First Training Day was a Success: Introduction to Computers
On August 12, 2024, The first day of the ABM Capacity Building Program on Basic ICT Skills was a resounding success! Participants eagerly engaged in the Introduction to Computers course, marking the beginning of their journey toward digital empowerment.
This program, a collaborative effort between the African Baptist Ministries (ABM) in Canada and is dedicated to bridging the digital divide for marginalized communities, especially women from Africa and Asia who have faced gender-based violence and cultural barriers.
Held in Edmonton, Alberta, the program is designed to equip participants with essential digital literacy skills, enhancing their employment opportunities, promoting social inclusion, and fostering long-term empowerment. Through tailored, hands-on training, participants gain the confidence and knowledge needed to navigate the digital world, enabling them to overcome barriers and achieve greater independence.
Objectives:
The Capacity Building Program aims to empower participants by providing them with the necessary ICT skills to thrive in a digital world. The program targets everyone in need but particularly emphasizes reaching those who are most vulnerable, such as women who have been marginalized by violence and cultural restrictions.
Program Details:
- Duration: 1 month (3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 3 hours a day)
- Format: In-person only (No online courses)
- Certificate: Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course
- Cost: All services are free of charge
- Childcare: Provided for children under 2 years
